WINTER 2025

Dear Neighbors,

As we close out the year, I’ve been spending some time reflecting on my first year serving on the Concord City Council.

First and foremost, thank you for electing me and placing your trust in me. From day one, I got straight to work for the residents of District 4 and for all of Concord. It’s been a year of listening, learning, and working alongside dedicated residents, city staff, and colleagues who care deeply about our community.

I don’t take this responsibility lightly, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve.

Here are just a few highlights from this past year in District 4:

  • A balanced and responsible city budget for all of Concord

  • Established equitable rent policy

  • Approval of a new play structure at Concord Community Park

  • Road maintenance improvements on Cowell Road

  • Repavement of all of Treat Boulevard

  • Safety measures and funding to reduce crashes along Treat Boulevard

  • New trees planted at Ygnacio Valley Park

  • Approval for repaving Bancroft Road on the Concord side

  • Monument Boulevard repavement

  • Saint Francis neighborhood street repavement

  • Maintenance work completed on Colony Park neighborhood

  • Approval of drone technology for police to support faster response times and better triage during public safety incidents

These were just some of our accomplishments this year, and there is still plenty of work ahead.

This past year was about building momentum and laying a strong foundation, and this is just the beginning.

I remain committed to listening, showing up, and delivering thoughtful, practical improvements that make a real difference in daily life. More is to come, and I look forward to continuing this work together.

I hope you and your loved ones had a joyful holiday season, and I’m wishing you a happy new year. Thank you for being part of what makes Concord such a special place to call home.

Sincerely,

Pablo

COUNCIL SELECTS LAURA NAKAMURA AS MAYOR & DOMINIC ALIANO AS VICE MAYOR

At our December 9th meeting, the City Council unanimously selected Vice Mayor Laura Nakamura to serve as Mayor and Councilmember Dominic Aliano as Vice Mayor for the 2025-2026 term.

I want to thank outgoing Mayor Carlyn Obringer for her service and for leading our city in the past year. She has been a strong partner in navigating federal changes, protecting our immigrant community, and establishing an equitable housing policy.

I look forward to working with our new Mayor and Vice Mayor as we tackle important issues in the new year.

COUNCIL APPROVES NEW PLAYGROUND AT CONCORD COMMUNITY PARK

I’m proud to have led the effort to build a new playground at Concord Community Park, right here in District 4. And I thank my colleagues for voting unanimously to build it at our December 9th meeting.

By the end of March 2026, families and children will be able to enjoy the playground and build new memories together.

The previous playground was nearing the end of its usability and became maintenance intensive due to its frequent use.

This new playground will be safer, modern, and more accessible. As I mentioned on the dais, this is a real win for families.
